Intimate B&B Remodel offers Zen-like ambiance to business travelers and tourists at Historical Jack London Square.

Challenge: Update and upgrade a small hotel on an extremely tight budget, replacing everything except tubs and enclosures in rooms, corridors, and lobbies.

Design Solutions:

• Established the landmark location of the hotel through a unique custom mural and artwork.
• Added drama with rich contemporary finishes.
• Unified the two-story lobby space with dramatic high-back, carved ebony wood-framed seating and elongated copper pendant lights.
• Invited barrier-free access to small lower lobby with a custom reception desk with multiple-level countertops.
• Offered interest to the vertical walls with inexpensive color bands of gradational paint colors in corridors and rooms.
• Enhanced the Zen quality of guest rooms through the use of soft-to-the-eye natural finishes, colors, and patterns.
• Softened and enlarged the spaces with small-scale custom furniture with simple but interesting contemporary lines.
• Added long-term savings for owners with water-saving faucets, showerheads, and dual-flush toilets.
